Solomon Abastado died Oct. 11 at 86. He is survived by his wife, Rachel; son, Albert; daughters, Becky and Reena Larson; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Zvi Shahar. Groman

Harold Barton died Oct. 14 at 86. He is survived by his wife, Myrna; son, Michael; and one granddaughter. Hillside

Benjamin Bayer died Oct. 18 at 81. He is survived by his wife, Aldean; son, Lance; daughter, Darice. Hillside

Marsha Berkman died Oct. 16 at 87. She is survived by her son, Paul. Mount Sinai

Joseph Berger died Oct. 10 at 91. He is survived by his sons, Peter and Steven; grandchildren, Sheri Berger Samii and Kenneth; and great-grandchildren, Ayden Samii and Kate.

Charlotte Shapson Boblow died Oct. 9 at 72.

Joyce Ann Blevins, 63, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, in a local hospital.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, she was employed by Simco Leather.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Blevins and William Vernon Hill.

Survivors include her companion, Joe Gentry, of Chattanooga; daughter, Cheryl McKay, of Huntsville, Ala.; four sisters, Edith Hill and Carol Troxell, of Chattanooga, Georgia Webb, of Cleveland, Tenn., Peggy Moore, of Nashville; three brothers, Robert Blevins, of Chatsworth, Ga., William Hill, of Chattanooga, Milton Blevins, of Rossville; several grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

A graveside service will he held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with Pastor Lynn Hayes officiating.

Councilman reports to Pikesville Chamber of Commerce

Pikesville Chamber of Commerce: Councilman Kevin Kamenetz, serving his fourth term on the County Council 2nd District, was the chamber's interesting guest speaker. He gave his annual update to chamber members regarding Pikesville.

The revitalization of Pikesville continues as the County Council enacted Kamenetz's bill for the Pikesville Revitalization District Redevelopment Incentive Fund, which offers property owners and developers up to $1 million toward commercial redevelopment projects in downtown Pikesville. Targeted is the revitalization of vacant or underutilized commercial properties in the Pikesville Revitalization District.

The first grant approved was the purchase of the former Mr. Chan site at 1006-1009 Reisterstown Road, now undergoing renovation for another restaurant, Mari Luna Mexican Grill, originally located at the former Carvel site.


MRS. MARY BENDIX

Mary Bendix, affectionately known as "Delicious," of Shore LifeCare in Parksley, formerly of Deep Creek, passed away comfortably at Shore LifeCare on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. She was the wife of the late Max Bendix.

Mrs. Bendix was the assistiant Dietician at the Point Pleasant Hospital, in New Jersey, for twenty years.
